Training Log and Athletic Adventures

My training goals remain the same all year:  7-9 hours of cardio (running, biking, elliptical, rowing and stair stepping) (30 to 40 miles running and up to 30 miles biking per week)........hot yoga??? times a month.... 1.5 to 2.0 hours of weight training per week.......core trainig 2-4 times per week.........my long run training occurs every other Friday....16, 18, 20, 22, 24 mile increments.........5.24.11 update-from September 2010 until April 2011, I added swimming into my training program on a weekly basis.  I have not learned learned how to swim, I discovered I don't like swimming and being cold all the time and decided to drop swimming from my training and to perhaps pick it up at a later time.  For now, I am oh so driven and fueled with running, weights and cycling ;p.

I am also a fan of the concept of "barefoot running" although I am not a barefoot runner.  I recently purchased a pair of Merrell-minimalist shoes and will be switching over to them permanently in about 90 days.  For the time being, I am working out in them on my shorter training days and building up to using them on all training days-  Update November 2011-the Merrell's didn't work out as well as I had hoped the would because I actually need support for my "flat" feet.  However, they are working out exceptionally well for my cycling, RR.

Sunday~ Carlsbad Marathon 26.2 (27.75) 350.....I got carried away and "caught up" with the other race and had to retrace my steps for an additional 1.5 miles to get back on  course.....yyyyyaaaaayyyyyaaaa......
